We go one-on-one with Josh DeMarco, the Creative Vision winner at Wella TrendVision’s 2016 Regional Competition in Philadelphia, and learn more about why he competed and what helped him advance to the next level of the competition. He walked away with the win for the Creative Vision category and has automatically advanced to the semi-finals
JOSH DEMARCO is a Philadelphia based hairstylist, international educator, and co-founder of DAPR Grooming Parlour (a multi-award winning mens salon). He currently works in the prestigious Rittenhouse neighborhood of Center City, Philadelphia.
Josh was recently named as one of the “100 Game Changers” of the year in hairdressing by Modern Salon Magazine, a tremendous honor. Continual growth and education are Josh’s top priorities, both as an educator and a perpetual student.
He graduated from the Aveda Institute, as valedictorian and is certified in multiple advanced cutting and color courses, including Wella’s Cut Craft and Sassoon’s ABC’s.
Josh has been exposed to a multitude of the world’s finest salon education opportunities, which has helped him craft his own unique skills behind the chair. He is a devoted artist who is passionate about helping others achieve success.
From 2015-2018 Josh was a consecutive finalist in Behind The Chair’s “#OneShot” Awards for Best Haircut. He was named one of Philadelphia’s best mens hairstylists by Philadelphia Magazine and Philadelphia Style Magazine. In 2016 Josh won WELLA’s Regional Trend Vision Awards, along with Sebastian Professionals “What’s Next Awards” People’s Choice award, which was a testament to his dedication and obsession for his craft. In 2017 Wella Professionals North America honored Josh with “The Best Digital Content” Award. Shortly after Estetica Magazine chose Josh to represent North America in “The Mentor: Best Emerging Talent” competition where he won gold, becoming the first American to achieve this prestigious award. in 2018 he won the Licensed to Create (LTC) award for “Best Mens Grooming” from CosmoProf Beauty followed by recognition as one of the 100 “Game-Changer’s” in hair by the esteemed Modern Salon Magazine. Josh specializes in both men’s and women’s haircutting and color.

Top 10 Trend Haircuts for 2016
In 2015, distinctive color techniques were in the limelight. From the ever-popular ombre, to flirty pastel hues, heads of hair everywhere were elaborately and daringly hand painted. Yet finishes were curled and loose, and as a result, the haircut took a backseat.
